Jim Butz | AIA

Jim Butz is a Principal and the Director of Planning at SPGB Architects.  He is responsible for pre-design services.  This includes articulating scope, cost and quality criteria, and developing viable concept solutions.


Mr. Butz is a patient listener and effective consensus builder with a tireless work ethic.  He is able to develop comprehensive big picture visions that resolve conflicting design parameters.  He is known for client-centered and innovative solutions.

Workshop Facilitation:

Jim Butz is a skilled collaborator, communicator and consensus builder.  He has facilitated more than fifty planning workshops that have engaged designers, owners and public stakeholders.  Workshops have lasted up to five days and included as many as eighty people.  Workshops have been conducted for master plans, programming and building design.  Agendas have included executive interviews, facility assessment, goal setting, group brainstorming, developing and critiquing alternative concepts, selection of preferred alternatives, development of concept solutions and delivery options, and presenting the results to the public.
